Power, Faith, and Fantasy: America in the Middle East: 1776 to the Present by Michael B. Oren is awesome! His book delves in the history between the United States and the Middle East. There have been a ton of books about the subject; however Oren manages to give the reader a clear, concise and historically accurate account of how the United States became originally involved in Middle Eastern affairs. If you want the facts and a thorough understanding of how our country’s foreign policy has become so intertwined with the region then this is the book for you. Nothing is worse than talking to people about history that rely on the “cable news” version rather than substantiated facts. If you want facts vs. fiction about the interesting dynamic of how and why our country is involved in Middle Eastern affairs then you need to read this book!

Check it out here. It is probably one of the most informative books I have ever read.
